Join San Angelo LIVE! for an engaging evening of political discourse at the 2026 Tom Green County Candidate Debate on Thursday, February 12, 2026. The event will take place at the Arc Light Bar & Grill inside the Clarion Hotel, located at 441 Rio Concho Dr., San Angelo. Doors open for seating, with the program kicking off at 6:30 p.m.
A special thanks to West Texas Industrial Supply, 138 W Concho Ave, San Angelo, TX 76903, for sponsoring the live stream and debate. Visit San Angelo's West Texas Supply here.
The evening begins with an opener featuring a question-and-answer session between the two candidates vying for the Republican nomination for Tom Green County Commissioner Precinct 2: Chad Decker and Todd Smith. This seat, which covers the southeastern quadrant of the county, became vacant following the recent passing of longtime Commissioner Sammy Farmer, who had announced his retirement just weeks prior.
Following the opener, the main debate will spotlight the three candidates for County Court at Law #1 Judge: Jessica Skinner, Jana Johnson, and Leland Lacy. The winner will succeed retiring Judge Ben Nolan, who has served since 2004. This court handles a wide range of cases, including misdemeanor criminal trials, probate hearings, civil lawsuits, and appeals from the four Justice of the Peace courts. While not yet implemented in Tom Green County, courts at law can also preside over divorce trials.
The debate will be moderated by San Angelo LIVE! commentator Yantis Green and publisher Joe Hyde, who will pose questions to the candidates and facilitate the discussion. The event promises insightful exchanges on key local issues affecting Tom Green County residents.
Can't make it in person? The debate will be live-streamed across all San Angelo LIVE! platforms, thanks to sponsorship from West Texas Industrial Supply.
